THE ARCHITECT’S BLOCK
To adaptively reuse a former butcher store into an architectural studio.
The Architect’s Block explores the atmospheric relationship between what once was and now is. Reclaimed materials and tones are used and adapted to imitate the traditional processes and typical identities found within a butcher’s store yet are made functional towards their new uses. Examples of this include the reclaimed PVC curtain between adjacent spaces to provide optional privacy between functions, the identity of the display and storage cabinet that imitates a traditional butcher’s display case, the centred table that portrays a traditional butcher’s block and lastly, a reclaimed butcher’s rack that now holds workshop tools.
